• Additional Accreditations—Look for a DNA testing company that has accreditations or certifications from professional organizations in addition to AABB and NYSDOH. Accreditations often sought by DNA testing companies are from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

• Years in Business—Be wary of companies that have been in business less than 5 years.
• Experience of Scientists—Review the experience of the scientists in the company to be sure that they are knowledgeable and established in the DNA testing field.
