Gregor Mendel
- 1865 - Mendel, the Austrian monk considered to be the Father of Genetics, developed the theory of
genetics

or inherited traits, through his pea study. He correctly deduced that genes are inherited in pairs, one from each parent. Ultimately, Mendel's laws of inheritance included the Law of Independent Assortment, the Law of Segregation, and the Law of Dominance.
